So what the heck is Square Mile of Murder?

Well, Square Mile of Murder is a true crime podcast. It’s recorded and produced in Glasgow, Scotland. We cover all kinds of cases and true crime stories, with an eye towards honouring crime victims and trying to source accurate information.

And who the heck are we?

We’re Kat and Taylor! We met at a Film and Television Studies Masters course at University of Glasgow in 2016, and decided to take the podcast plunge in 2020.

Kat is a Yorkshire lass now living in Glasgow. Along with true crime, she loves motorsports, travelling, crime thrillers and pizza. Kat is unattached but regularly steals her neighbour’s cats and is mother to our Count Duckula.

Taylor is an American now happily calling Glasgow home. She loves cheese, TV, language, podcasts, avocados, documentaries, and fluffy animals of all types. She is married to the “podcast gremlin” that you may have heard about.

So…what’s your name all about?

Glad you asked! Once upon a time there was a section of Glasgow known as the “Square Mile of Murder” due to a series of killings that occurred there between 1857 and 1908. Seeing as we’re Glasgow based, we chose our name to honour our city’s history.

And the cone?

It’s a Glasgow thing.
