Charles Sobhraj was known as The Serpent, the Bikini Killer, and the Hippie Trail Killer. He spent years running cons, schemes, and scams across multiple continents. And his trail of crime eventually led to murder. In Part 1 we cover Sobhraj’s early life and crimes and leave him after a prison escape.
Part 2 picks up in 1975 after that prison escape in Greece. Sobhraj tricked his younger brother Andre into taking his place in a Greek jail. The Greek prison service weren’t happy about this trick. So, Andre was then extradited to neighbouring Turkey where he was sentenced to 18 years hard labour for a string of robberies and scams that the pair had carried out between 1973 and 1975.
Sobhraj once again hit the hippie trail, this time heading for Thailand, pulling small time scams to pay his way, but he had grand plans for this next phase of his life. This episode covers Sobhraj’s efforts to build a Manson style crime family and his descent into murder.
